Setup: Anki

  • This is an archive for when we need to manually update JPMN Note again to setup our Anki

  • Anki is a SRS flash card program for card reviewing and the due dates are decided by the algorithm
  • Mobile is supported
  • Anki Light | Dark Mode


Download and Install

  • Install PC Anki 23.12.1 Qt6 (Please don't use Qt5)
    • Android | iOS (Install guide is for PC only but you can use it on mobile afterwards)
  • Download Anki addons
  • Download and Install Git > 64-bit setup
    • Then choose Windows/mac INSTALLER 64bit and install

    Download python (3.10.xx ONLY) located at the bottom of the page

    Check 'Add Python to PATH' (click here)

Setting Up

  1. Open Anki and create an account and profile by clicking the Sync button

  2. Extract Anki addons21.7z and paste the addons21 folder to C:\Users\**YourUser**\AppData\Roaming\Anki2

  3. Restart your Anki, then Ctrl + Shift + A OR Tools > Add-ons > Check for add-ons update

    • Update the addons then restart it again

  4. Open command prompt by windows key or search bar > Type cmd or command prompt

    • Click the Copy button and simply Paste this into command prompt then enter
    • Make sure to have Anki opened

  5. In Anki after installing the deck, rename JPMN-Examples to Mining Deck

  6. Go to: C:\Users\**YourUser**\AppData\Roaming\Anki2\**YourAnkiName**\collection.media

    • Search _jpmn-options

    • Edit and replace the config with the one below (open in notepad)

  7. In Anki: Browse > on the left side under Note Type > JP Mining Note > Card... > Styling > Scroll down to the bottom

    • Paste The Anki Styling config AFTER the INSERT CUSTOM CSS BELOW line
      • Editing only 1 card is enough for this to take effect on everything

  8. Go to your Deck's option then copy the settings below

    • (Top left) Tools > Preferences and set the settings accordingly
    • (Settings 3) Turn on FSRS with a minimum desired and SM2 retention of 0.80, then use Optimize FSRS Parameters and Compute Optimal Retention every month
      • Tools > FSRS4Anki Helper for more personalized options like Load Balancer
      • Until 1000 reviews, you can't generate your own parameters and you will be using the defaults

  9. Restart your Anki and it should be good to go

You now have an Anki Template, next is Yomitan

  • Changing anything not below that specific line of code will be reverted back once you updated the note
